Scaling a health-tech platform
Diagnosed performance bottlenecks and set a roadmap for scale. Built a Rust services layer on Kafka and gRPC, with X12 EDI eligibility (270/271) and claims (276/277, 835) pipelines integrating insurance carriers, running on Kubernetes.
Core infrastructure for a philanthropy
Built core infrastructure in Rust and Go, managed AWS through Terraform modules, and automated identity management with an event-driven Okta service. Co-designed an internal Kubernetes platform to simplify deployments.
Untangling a growing monolith
Unified disparate user directories, redesigned authentication workflows, and planned the decomposition of a large Go service into modular services, working alongside architects from acquired companies.
A ledger and card-processing engine
Built a Rust transaction-processing engine for accounting workflows, integrated card-issuing and financial-provider APIs for real-time feeds, and led a contract team delivering the data layer behind mobile apps.
Moving an ML platform to AWS
Built Python and Rust microservices and CI/CD pipelines that automate model deployment and testing, and migrated the platform from Google Cloud to AWS, GKE to EKS.
Rule-driven playback at scale
Designed a serverless architecture for rule-based music and ad playback, with Rust Lambda functions for configuration, media management and telemetry, and an on-premises player appliance for client sites.

A small firm with a big-company background
Spadea Technologies is a consultancy led by a hands-on architect and engineering leader with more than 25 years of experience across banks, healthcare platforms, fintechs and startups.
We started the firm because small businesses deserve the same quality of engineering as large ones, without a large company's price tag or process. You work directly with the people who do the work. We favor open source, simple architectures and clear documentation, so you are never locked in to us.
